Denver Day

Saturday, 25 November 2000

We had a wonderful "Denver Day" on Saturday, 25 November 2000 - lots of music, sharing of memories, videos, singing and raising record amounts of money!!!

On Sunday, 26 November, we helped plant several hundred young trees for the Woodland Trust, at one of the "Woods On Your Doorstep" that they are establishing here in the UK. We have worked very hard to raise the money we needed and on Sunday we actually got down to some practical ‘hands on’ participation. It was a perfect day, lots of Sunshine on our Shoulders and lots of fun. We even got a slot on local radio. We dedicated an area to John and will have a bench there in the summer. The plaque that will be attached to the bench has the inscription

PART OF THE SURROUNDING AREA
IS DEDICATED IN CELEBRATION OF
THE LIFE OF JOHN DENVER
1943-1997

MUSICIAN
ENVIRONMENTALIST, HUMANITARIAN
POET FOR THE PLANET

THE WOODLAND TRUST

At last we have our wish come true to have a living place where we can celebrate John’s life. For those of you visiting the UK at anytime let us know and we’ll take you there.

Thank you to all those who attended from all over the UK.
