Walk in the Derbyshire Peak District

Saturday, 6th July 2002

Starting and finishing point at Edale under Derbyshire's highest peak, Kinder Scout at 2088ft. The walk is about 5 miles over fields and footpaths with some small road/track walking, mostly on level ground in the valley. Bring strong footwear/boots and a waterproof coat just in case it rains, a rucksack and food and drink for a picnic, and a small first aid kit. We plan to have a picnic near to the bottom of the Jacob's Ladder steps, while the more adventurous/fitter people may wish to climb to the top of the hill up the steps.

It will be a 'Rocky Mountain' day with Kinder Scout on one side and the ridge from Loose Hill to Mam Tor on the other, with a view down the Edale valley to Hope.
