We have negotiated an 'Early Bird' price for F.O.J.D. members, and members of our own mailing list, and Mark's mailing list members. This is valid from May 1st until July 1st with £1 off each price (i.e. £8 & £4.) To claim the F.O.J.D. discount please contact Neil & Gill directly either by phone or email. Do not use the W.R.B.A. Charity phone number for the discount price, as their office will only be selling at the full ticket price.
Even W.R.B.A. supporters are not being offered this discount, it is just granted to us for our loyal JD friends and is for this limited time only.
The discount was to have been even greater originally, but the organiser has just been hit by a hidden 'stealth' charge that we never had last time we performed at this venue. The organiser now has to provide Insurance cover for the Town Hall for the duration of the event, which is now costing an extra £160.
This price was included 'all in' last time we performed there, but not so this time round. Suppose the credit crunch is to blame for that. So we really did hope to offer a greater discount to our loyal JD friends. We are only allowed to offer this discount until July 1st. After that date all tickets are full price.
A vote was taken recently on whether to cancel the show due to the hidden charges, and whether it will affect profits for the charity. The vote came back a unanimous NO- THE SHOW MUST GO ON !! The West Riding Blind Association are all looking forward to this event, and will be working extra hard to advertise the event in an attempt to make it a success. They also plan to come up with idea's for craft stalls etc. just as they did last time.
For those who didn't come to Ossett last time we performed there. It is a really beautiful two tier theatre setting, with fully licensed bar facilities.
The downstairs section is set out cabaret style, and the upper level has sloping rows of concert style seats, all with excellent views. The hall is situated a couple of miles off M1 Junction 40 and is very easy to find. Full map and directions will be sent out with tickets, which will also include several choices of accomodation for anyone who wants to stay overnight.
The content of the show, as the title suggests, will feature John Denver songs, and also possibly a few songs by other artists that we like listening to, and singing the songs of. The final percentage of JD songs/ variety songs in the show, will be determined by how many JD fans we know are out there in the audience. So the more JD fans we have, the more JD songs we will sing.
We have been singing together for 10 years now, having performed in public together for the very first time in May 1999. So we hope our friends will come along to join us in 2009 to celebrate 10 years On The Road. In those 10 years we have raised over £18,000 for a wide range of charities. Our thanks to each and every one of you for every single penny that has gone to some very worthy causes along the way.
We look forward to seeing all those who can make it, We hope it will be a great night, maybe with one or two surprises,
Bye for now,
Peace, Love & Best Wishes,
Neil & Gill Sharman xx
