An afternoon of friendship remembering John Denver,
plus an evening with René Wingelaar

Saturday 19th May, at the Royal British Legion Club, Histon, Cambridgeshire.

2pm – 5pm (ish) and 7.30pm - 11pm (ish)

You are all invited to an afternoon gathering to remember John. It will be a very relaxed afternoon full of chat, laughter and music. We’re hoping that all the musicians amongst you will bring their guitars! There are no tickets for this event (to cut down on costs) but we would appreciate it if you could let us know whether you are coming so we can judge the refreshments – tea/coffee/squash/biscuits will be provided. We would appreciate a donation (anything from £2 upwards) plus maybe a tombola prize but this is not compulsory. The idea of the afternoon is for friends to get together to appreciate John but if we do make any money (from donations, raffle and tombola), after expenses, then this will be given to a cause which John would have approved of.

If anyone has any ideas or would like to contribute in anyway (if you have any arts and crafts you wish to sell etc), this is an afternoon for all John’s friends to celebrate his life and have fun so any input would be more than welcome!

Also... to round off the day, we are delighted to have René Wingelaar from Holland coming to entertain us for an evening concert. The club will remain open for those who wish to hang around between the afternoon events finishing and the evening concert starting and there are 3 local pubs which do food or a fish and chip/Chinese takeaway. Tickets for the evening event are £8.00. There will be a variety of music so something for everyone to enjoy. René has a vast repertoire including John Denver, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Rod Stewart, Buddy Holly, Chris de Burgh and many more plus some wonderful music written by René himself.  There will be a licensed bar (which also sells Tea/Coffee) plus a raffle during the evening.

For those thinking of staying overnight there will be a possible (weather permitting) outing on the Sunday to go punting in Cambridge.
