The John Denver Bench
Directions to Dersingham Bog, Wolferton, Norfolk.
Read about the dedication of John's bench on the events page.
The John Denver Bench was completed on 19th June 2006 and stands at the English Nature Reserve on the old sea cliffs overlooking the reserve, at Dersingham Bog, Wolferton, Norfolk.
The members of Friends of John Denver UK, donated £188.50 to remember the life of their dear friend John.
All the installation of the bench was done by Paul & Val Gilbert with support from the site manager, Ash, wardens Chris & Will, and the reserve volunteers.
It is a beautiful place to sit in peace, to look over the SSSI reserve (site of special scientific interest), to enjoy the wildlife such as Deer, Buzzards, Woodpeckers, Swallows, Nightjars, Owls, Dragonflies, Butterflies, Moths and the open countryside.
A perfect place to sit quietly and reflect on John Denver’s life and all the things he did and believed in.
English Nature have leased the 159 hectares (approx 400 acres) off the Queens Royal Sandringham Estate since 1990.The main project at the reserve, with the management team and volunteers, is to remove the non-native Scots Pines, Silver Birch & Rhododendrons. To bring back the fast disappearing Heathers, Heaths and wildlife. It is very important to do this as farming, roads and industry have taken away our Heathland. In the British Isles we have a quarter of the worlds Heathland, so we must preserve this habitat. John Denver often spoke of habitat and how important it is for wildlife, mankind and the world. This SSSI reserve is a prime example where we can work together in saving the world’s habitat & wildlife for now and future generations.
